Clipjaw runs Clipjaw. This page explains what we collect, why, who handles it and what you can do.
What we collect
Your account (email, name, password stored as a secure hash, or your Google sign-in); the stream recordings you upload or import; the transcripts and clips we make from them; the social accounts you connect (access tokens, stored encrypted); post statistics (views, likes); billing details handled by Stripe (we never see your card number); and, each time you confirm you have the right to clip a stream, the IP address and time of that confirmation.
How we use it
- The audio of your recording goes to an AI provider for transcription.
- The transcript is used to find moments and write captions.
- Three low-resolution frames are used to locate the webcam. We never use them to identify anyone.
- Public TikTok posts (not yours) feed the Trend Analyst.
- We also use your data to post your clips, show results and earnings estimates, bill your plan, send the emails you chose and answer support.
Our AI providers do not train their models on API data by default. We don't sell your information and we don't use your content to train our own models.
Other people in recordings
Recordings may show or voice other people (the streamer, guests, chat). You must have the right to clip them: an official clipping program or your own channel.

Cookies
One cookie, cj_session (keeps you signed in, 30 days). No analytics, no ads, so no cookie banner. Your browser's localStorage keeps interface preferences only.
Legal bases (EU/UK)
Contract (to provide the service you asked for), legitimate interests (security, preventing abuse, improving the service), legal obligation (tax and billing records) and consent (connecting social accounts, optional emails; you can withdraw it anytime).
California
We collect identifiers (email, IP), account and commercial information (plan, invoices), audio/visual content you upload and internet activity in the app, for the purposes above. We do not sell or share personal information. You may ask to know, delete or correct your information, and we won't discriminate against you for doing so.
How long we keep it
- Source recordings and transcripts: deleted 3 days after clipping.
- Clips: until you delete them or your account.
- Deleted streams: anonymised.
- Invoices: 6 years.
- Email outbox: 90 days. Error logs: 30 days.
- Rights confirmations: 3 years.
- After you delete your account we keep a one-way fingerprint of your email and this month's minutes until the month ends, so the free allowance can't be reset by re-signing up.
- Instagram needs a temporary public link to a clip while it fetches it; that link stops working after posting.
Your rights
Access and export (Settings → Download my data), correction, deletion (Settings → delete account) and withdrawal of consent. You can also write to us.
Connected platforms
YouTube: we use YouTube API Services. By connecting you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service; Google's privacy policy is at google.com/policies/privacy. You can revoke our access at security.google.com/settings/security/permissions. We delete data we got from YouTube within 30 days of you disconnecting.
TikTok and Instagram: we use access only to post the clips you schedule and read their statistics. Disconnect in the app or in each platform's settings (TikTok: Settings and privacy → Security and permissions → Apps and services; Instagram: Settings → Apps and websites). We delete that data within 30 days of disconnecting.
